DPW issues FREE filled sandbags to the public during the winter rainy season to protect property in San Francisco.

Free sandbag pick up available at 2323 Cesar Chavez Street, entrance at Kansas and Marin streets.

Both filled and unfilled sandbags are available at no cost.

There is a limit of 10 sandbags per address.

Additional sandbags can be made available under special circumstances if approved by the Deputy Director of Operations.

Sandbags distributed by DPW are not for resale.

Residents must show a valid ID with San Francisco residence.

Residents must load their own filled sandbags.
Availability
Monday - Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Bring your vehicle to the DPW Corporation Yard.

Again, the address is 2323 Cesar Chavez Street, entrance at Kansas and Marin streets.

No prior notice is required.
All other hours

Phone 3-1-1 and tell the dispatcher you need sandbags.

Be prepared to leave a callback number so that DPW staff can coordinate an immediate pickup at the DPW Yard.

When instructed, bring your vehicle to the DPW Corporation Yard.
