PUBLIC WORKS TO UNDERTAKE MAJOR CLEANING TO BROADWAY TUNNEL
Motorists advised to take alternate routes during cleaning of thoroughfare
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The Department of Public Works is scheduled to perform intense cleaning of the Broadway Tunnel using special lift equipment to clean the ceiling and walls of the tunnel, requiring lane closures and traffic detours. In order to minimize traffic disruption of this major throughway in San Francisco, the tunnel scrubbing will be performed late night to early morning hours, starting Sunday, May 6 to Friday, May 11, from 9:30pm through 5am.
Westbound lanes will be closed to traffic on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights for cleaning. Eastbound lanes will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Motorists are advised to take detoured routes during work hours.
