In November 2003, San Francisco voters passed Proposition C requiring city agencies to:
- establish standards for street, sidewalk, and park maintenance;
- publish schedules of street, park and sidewalk maintenance on the web site; and
- conduct an annual performance audit of the City's street, sidewalk and park maintenance and cleaning operations
Standards
The Department of Public Works (DPW) worked closely with the Controller's Office to develop street and sidewalk maintenance standards, an evaluation tool to measure compliance, and the reporting mechanisms to track results. This gives us citywide standards and a monitoring system. These standards are the result of a community input process. Select streets and sidewalks are also inspected on a regular basis; resulting in the reports available below.
Reports
Selected city streets and sidewalks are inspected on a regular basis using the established standards and evaluation forms. The reports below are results from inspections by DPW and the Controller's Office.
Schedules
In compliance with Prop. C, DPW makes available to the public street cleaning and maintenance schedules through this web site. The schedules include general citywide information, as well as information particular to your street. Additionally, you can find schedules for cleaning and maintenance of plazas, bridges, tunnels, and street trees.
